I had a post that went viral earlier this year.
It had 122 966 views, 1089 likes, 56 comments and 56 shares.
An incredible result that translated into hundreds of new followers.
The issue?
The post was about a generic topic that wasn't very applicable to my niche.
So I added hundreds of followers who weren't my target audience or my ideal client on LinkedIn.
Lots of attention and no extra cash in the bank!
LinkedIn as a platform wants its users to build a network of engaged users who enjoy your value-adding content.
Their goal is to get people to spend as much time scrolling and connecting as possible (which is an issue because people spend so little time on LinkedIn every week).
So what does that mean for your LinkedIn sales strategy?
If you're using LinkedIn to build your business or get more clients, then you're going to want to balance between building an authority through value-adding content and getting reach by creating content that spreads easily.
Monetising an audience is not easy.
But if you continue to:
1) Post value-adding content related to your niche
2) Grow your network with your ideal clients
3) Get reach by engaging and posting broad content
Then you'll start to find the sweet spot of converting those likes into cash.
The most important part of this is that it'll take time.
So be patient, but start today, you have nothing to lose!
