The Harsh Truth About LinkedIn
Sep 17, 2022Have you ever felt that LinkedIn as a platform is quite weird?
Is it a social media or is it a networking site for professionals?
Maybe both? Maybe neither?
This is a major problem if you're not clear about the answer because it'll change your entire approach to the platform. It'll influence whether you frame yourself as a job seeker or a business builder.
Way too many get this wrong.
I used to get it wrong as well. I saw the platform as a CV maker and job finder which it really is, but it actually isn't at a more fundamental level.
LinkedIn is a social media that can be leveraged to grow your business and get more clients.
A bonus is that you can find a nifty job whilst you do it.
Barely 1% of all LinkedIn users post on a weekly basis, and the average time spent on LinkedIn each month is 17 minutes.
A crazy statistic, but if you're like me, an incredible opportunity.
LinkedIn is a social media so treat it like one:
- Post regularly
- Consume other's content and then engage with them
- Create attention that will translate into sales
- Have an offer
- Give value
- Don't be afraid to put yourself out there
Don't make the mistake of thinking it's just a place to find a job, you'll miss the opportunities.
You've got this.
