For most of my LinkedIn profile's life it has been framed as a CV.

Completed to get a job, win a competition or attract recruiters.

It was like I was holding out my hands waiting for an opportunity.

LinkedIn would tell me that some people were viewing my profile but nothing else was happening. No key decision-markers and no new clients.

I could see others on the platform getting new business opportunities and experiences and I wanted that.

I figured out that I had designed my profile as a CV Maker:

- This is my experience

- This is what I'm good at 

- This is where I want to be

But the others who were getting all the opportunities abandoned the CV model entirely.

They had designed their profile as a business builder:

- How they could help you

- What they're an expert in

- Where they could take you if you partnered with them

Two entirely different approaches.

Two different outcomes. 

I decided to build my profile as a business builder and opportunities have presented themselves to me, this is what I did:

→ Header that focussed on the value I offer

→ Tagline that showed who I help and how

→ A featured section that had two call-to-actions

→ An about section that was written for my ideal customer

→ Experiences that showed what I had done and how it helps me now to help others

Switch to the business builder, there's a lot more opportunity than the CV maker.
